ENSYTE has been adding some exciting enhancements to the GASTAR Solution as we continue to grow the product and expand functionality for our clients.
We added an Off System Sales (OSS) Module to support our client’s Gas Supply group to sell excess gas supply on a daily basis through OSS. To manage these transactions effectively, the GASTAR OSS Module provides the ability to enter and record each OSS, ensuring it is properly matched to the existing supply sources within the portfolio. The OSS functionality allows the calculation of the total margin for each sale, factoring in any incremental costs associated with delivering the gas to the targeted market or sale point. Additionally, the system can break out the calculated margin between the Utility Gas Commission and the company, both in percentage and dollar terms. Finally, the system provides functionality to generate an ad hoc report summarizing all month-to-date transactions, clearly showing the margin split for each sale.
We also added an Asset Management Deal (AMA) Enhancement to manage Capacity Release with a Supply Call Option and Spread Revenue Sharing. The Supply Call Option allows the client to secure the right, but not the obligation, to purchase natural gas during specific periods, specified by the AMA for any day during the term of the AMA. When market or operational conditions require additional supply, the business team can “call upon” the option to receive gas deliveries at a predetermined pricing formula, ensuring reliability without committing to daily purchases. Once the option is exercised, the actual called volume and cost are recorded in the system. Each call option deal is linked to a Spread Sharing Arrangement, where the difference between the market sale price and the purchase cost (the spread or margin) is calculated. A percentage of this margin is then remitted to the Utility Gas Commission, as required, while the remaining portion is retained by Utility. GASTAR also generates reports showing transaction details, margins, and revenue splits, providing transparency and auditability for regulatory and financial review.
